Empowering Through Empathy: A Journey to Surajpur Village with GL Bajaj x UPAY

Menstrual health is not just a matter of access—it's a matter of acceptance. On April 26th, 2025, our passionate team—Prerna, Ankita, and Surbhi—visited Surajpur Village with a goal to distribute sanitary pads and spread awareness about menstrual hygiene. But what we encountered opened our eyes to a much deeper issue—the stigma, silence, and shame still surrounding menstruation.

Most women avoided eye contact. Many young girls walked away, covered their faces, or ran off when approached. It wasn't rejection—it was deep-rooted discomfort stemming from years of cultural conditioning. We realized that a pad alone cannot solve the problem. What’s needed is trust, education, and ongoing conversations that slowly dissolve the shame.

This visit was a powerful reminder that true social impact begins with understanding, listening, and showing up with empathy—not assumptions.
